JEFFERSON NATIONAL EXPANSION MEMORIAL (St. Louis Arch) (09/2006 and 05/2010)

The Gateway Arch reflects St. Louis’ role
in the Westward Expansion of the United States
during the nineteenth century
On September 23, 2006, I attended the dedication of this
Lewis and Clark statue in St. Louis, Missouri.
On May 24, 2010, I went to see how the statue
was holding up. Note the little black speck in the water.
See the speck? That's the hat from the statue! With the
river rising, the statue is now under water.
(Perhaps putting it so close to the river's edge
wasn't such a good idea?!)
